Advancing Wildfire Resilience Implementation
Jardins de Cap Roig, “la Caixa” Foundation, Girona (Spain)
September 30 – October 1, 2026
The workshop - Kick-off meeting of the Wildfire Resilient Landscapes Network
We are pleased to invite you to a high-level international workshop on wildfire resilience, organised by the Wildfire Resilient Landscapes Network (WRLN) of the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance (CBA), in collaboration with CTFC and the FIRE-RES Programme. The workshop is hosted by “la Caixa” Foundation, a CBA Custodian Member.
Recent extreme wildfire seasons worldwide have highlighted the urgent need to accelerate the transition towards integrated, landscape-scale wildfire risk management, as outlined in the strategic priorities of the European Commission and other international parties (Canada, Australia, US). Addressing this challenge requires stronger alignment across science, local communities, policy, and public-private finance.
This workshop will bring together key stakeholders—including high-level policymakers, public administrations, research organisations, local communities, private sector, financial institutions, insurance actors, and philanthropy—to foster strategic dialogue and partnerships towards action.
The WRLN provides a long-term international collaboration framework to advance large-scale demonstration actions, innovation, and a global network of Living Labs, supporting the implementation of resilient, multifunctional landscapes worldwide. The WRLN was launched at a reception attended by His Majesty King Charles III in November 2023 at the start of COP28 in Dubai. A new phase of activity in 2026 has been made possible by support from the “la Caixa” Foundation.
The event will focus on:
- Advancing the implementation of holistic integrated wildfire management approaches (landscape design, technologies, governance etc)
- Scaling Living Labs and resilient landscape innovative approaches globally
- Identifying public-private investment opportunities and funding mechanisms
- Strengthening cross-sectoral and global collaboration
The overall ambition is to catalyse a pipeline of scalable, investment-ready initiatives, mobilising public, private, and philanthropic funding for wildfire-resilient landscapes.
Participation is by invitation only. Travel budget may be available upon request (full or partial coverage will be considered by the organizers). Keynote speakers will be contacted directly.
